Band of Horses

After leaving his former band Carissa's Wierd, Ben Bridwell teamed up with buddy Chris Early to form Band of Horses in 2004. Out of Seattle, Washington, Band of Horses emerged as a four-piece group who signed to Sub Pop after a performance with Iron & Wine. The band has since signed with Fat Possum Records, and is now based out of Birdwell's hometown of Charlston, South Carolina due to Birdwell's longing to return to his *real* home after his extended tours.

They make very melodic, southern-inspired indie rock that fills a room with its foggy approach. Their sound is commonly compared to that of My Morning Jacket--but Band of Horses often have a larger, fuller sound. Don't get the wrong idea, though: They certainly put out simpler, more intimate tracks, as well. Really, Band of Horses are a group of dudes that make country-influenced indie rock that don't hold back...even in their softer songs.
