Camera Obscura

Camera Obscura, the gadget, is a wooden box with a hole that projects a visual onto another surface, often for artistic and visual purposes. Camera Obscura, the band, related to the concept and purpose of this appliance and thus is the meaning behind their name. Camera Obscura started in Scotland in 1996 and their first album was produced by Belle and Sebastian's Stuart Murdoch. This early alliance speaks to Camera Obscura's poppy indie rock style.

Sometimes a bit silly, other times earnest, Camera Obscura often winks at you through their lyrics. Never trying to impress with fancy tricks but nonetheless true craftsmen and serious artists that have worked multiple times with John Peel, Camera Obscura have a low key, light but masterly, indie pop sound.
