TV On the Radio

Working with soul, punk, post-punk, indie, jazz, pop and pretty much any other genre of music you could think of as their influences, TV on the Radio makes electro-indie that is almost too danceable. They like to surprise their listeners with abrupt rhythm changes all the while providing them with enormous, out of this world catchiness.

From Brooklyn, founding members Tunde Adebimpe and David Andrew Sitek formed TV on the Radio in 2001. Between the band's birth and hiatus that began in 2008, the group and its list of collaborators grew in size every few years. Between their first album (which Adebimpe and Sitek made before the other members joined the group) called OK Calculator--which yes, is a play off of Radiohead's Ok Computer and their 2008 album Dear Science, the band grew from two to five members.

Aside for their band mates, TV on the Radio's fans have grown in size also, even to include huge and legendary musicians. For example, Phish covered their song "Golden Age" and the band has worked with David Bowie, Nick Zinner from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blonde Redhead and more. Their talent has certainly translated into a serious career: TV on the Radio's music was even featured in a Nike commercial for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
